Lip Product Addict TAG #2

1. Favourite balm/treatment?
I wouldn't say this is a 'treatment' but I really like the Maybelline BabyLips in hydrate.

2. Best eye-catching red?
I don't wear reds much but I do own the infamous Rimmel Kate Moss 107 lipstick, which I'm sure you've  heard about.

3. Best luxury & best drugstore?
My best luxury would have to be my Dior lip glow and my best drugstore is probably the Maybelline color whisper in coral ambition.

4. Best MAC lipstick?
I am really liking Hue at the minute, it's a glaze finish and it's just a perfect nude colour.

5. The most disappointing?
My most disappointing would probably be the mac lip glasses, however don't get me wrong, I did actually like the lipgloss, I was just disappointed because I ordered it from online (kind of, long story) and when I received it it was really small and for £14 I did expect more.

6. Liner - yes or no?
I don't use liners a lot as I'm lazy but I do think they can come in handy and I really want to invest in a few more.

7. Best gloss?
I really like the Revlon lipglosses I think they're amazing, the formulas are great in both the super lustrous and colour burst ranges. The colour burst glosses have a bigger colour range but I love them both equally.

8. Something extra!
I have a couple other things that I would recommend so I'm just going to cheat and say them both haha.

Firstly I'm going to mention the Clinique chubby sticks, I had two but I actually lost one and I think I left it in Spain but I love the formulae of these, they can be sheer however the colour is easily build-able.

I also want to talk about the bourjois lipgloss in rose chimeric and brun poetic, I didn't include these as my best lip glosses because these are the only two colours that I actually like enough to buy, but they are very good glosses, not sticky at all and great to pair with lipsticks.

Top 5 || Real Techniques Brushes

Powder Brush - This brush is very dense and can press powder onto the skin, this brush is also great to use for an all over bronzed look. The hairs are very soft and are easy to clean. £10.99

Blush Brush - This is very multipurpose as I use it for powder, contouring, bronzer, blush and highlighter. It's probably the softest out of all of them and it's tapered shape makes it easier to apply makeup. £9.99

Stippling Brush - I use this to buff in foundation and concealer however this can also be used to apply cream based products like cream blushes and highlighters. The hairs aren't too flexible but this gives skin a flawless finish. £10.99

Base Shadow Brush - With the shape of this brush it allows you to press on eyeshadow for intense colour or you can blend out shadows to give you a seamless look. £21.99 From Set

Accent Brush - Again this is a dense brush with short hairs that allow you to put on eyeshadow precisely in specific shapes and looks. £21.99 From Set

I would highly recommend any Real Techniques brush as they if high quality like Mac brushes but are still very affordable. Each brush has a handle with a section that makes gripping it easier. The bristles are synthetic and hand-cut 100% cruelty free.

Makeup Tips for Oily Skin

Products Mentioned;

If you struggle with oily skin or like me with an oily T-zone then you will know how hard it is trying to find products that last a long time on your skin, or even just ways to make makeup stay where you put it for longer! These are just tips that I found work best personally, I'm not too sure they are correct as I guess you could say I am self taught, however I hope that this helps some of you out.

When doing your base makeup you want to make sure your foundation lasts all day and a way to do this is to put moisturiser on just before you do your foundation. This helps because it gives your foundation something to stick to, other wise it will kind of just slide off your face. You could actually use a primer for this, however I think moisturisers actually work best at making foundation stay in place and they are better for your skin too.

When looking for foundations and concealers always look for ones with long lasting or something like that in the name. My personal faves are the Rimmel 25 hour foundation and the Mac Prolong wear concealer.

Next up, when you use your fingers or a brush to apply these products you are basically just coating your face in products and it's just going to rub off super easy. I would highly recommend you invest is a beauty sponge or a beauty blender and dab your foundation and concealer into your skin and don't swipe, this is a lot more time consuming but it gives the best long lasting results.

Also I would just like to point out that you are not actually suppose to put foundation or concealer on your eyelids as we don't have pores  there meaning it won't stay in place for very long at all and leave us with lines of concealer and foundation, which are not attractive haha. However, there is a way to get around the fact that we may want to cover up red or veiny eyelids and this is to either use a skin toned primer e.g benefit stay don't stray, or maybe a cream eye shadow like the mac paint pots in painterly or what ever skin tone you are as they do just matte and natural skin tone colours.

Finally, you need to set your makeup, so I think a powder is nessacary, but make sure you invest your money into a powder that doesn't cache at all, this way you can apply as much of it as you wish or even top up during the day. I would recommend the Mac mineralize skinfinish natural or Rimmel true match loose powder.
Another way to help your makeup last even longer would be a setting spray, I personally don't own a setting spray, however, I have tried the Urban Decay all nighter  spray and it was amazing and did actually make my make up last and look better so I would recommend that too!

So that is basically all my tips for helping makeup last for oily skinned people, I think I might also do a few posts with some more my makeup tips that I have found for maybe dry and pale skins, so maybe look out for that in the future!

Beauty Haul #2

Surprise surprise I've been a little naughty and splurged on some makeup and bits and bobs. My excuse is that I did sort of need these things...

As a sort of package deal I bought the Real Techniques Stippling Brush and the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in the lightest shade. (As a quick side note if you're in the U.K I would suggest buying Real Techniques brushes from Superdrug as they're always a couple of quid cheaper!) The brush buffs in the foundation beautifully and gives you a flawless finish despite the foundation being light coverage.

Recently all of my mascaras have been drying out so I thought I'd treat myself to the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara. I have mixed opinions on this as I only really like the lower lash end. However this mascara separates, lengthens and volumizes. The only problem I have with this is minor smudging underneath my eyes so if you have watery eyes see if they do a waterproof version.

I have already used the black version of the Rimmel Scandeleyes down to a nub and so I bought the nude version to put on my waterline as they are usually quite pink. The nude is quite yellowy so it can look a bit bizarre on me as I have a cool skin tone but when used sparingly this can really wake up your eyes.

As I owned no bronzers (ridiculous right?) I thought that going on other peoples recommendations I would jump on the band wagon and invest in the Honey Bronzer from The Body Shop. I love this so far as the shade is so light as I am so fair skinned and can't tan, they come in a wide spectrum of shades and it gives you a subtle yet sun kissed look.

I am a huge fan of Sleek so I thought I would treat myself to their Blush in Pixie Pink, it is a beautiful bright baby pink that is slightly more of a Wintery shade. It is matte and really pigmented so have a little caution when using this.

Lastly I bought the Simple Face Mask which I have already mentioned in far more detail in my Face Mask post, so be sure to look at that if you're curious!

Beauty Haul #3

As you can see, recently I have had a not so little splurge! To be fair to myself I did buy this over the whole summer and did buy some of the items in duty free, so I did actually save money... so it's all okay haha.

I'll start with the things I bought from Clarins because why not haha. Firstly I picked up the Colours Of Brazil Bronzing Compact. This is basically a huge (20g!!) bronzer that looks beautiful in the compact and on the face. It's super natural looking and isn't chalky at all. I also bought two Lip Perfectors in 05 and 06 which are basically lipglosses that have really different applicators that claim to perfect the look of your lips.

From Dior I only picked up one thing, which was actually a lip duo that came with a lip glow and a lip maximiser, both super luxurious and well worth the quite expensive price tag. The packaging for these is also to die for (haha drama queen).

Next up I got the Clinique high impact mascara from the airport too, this is a very natural looking mascara and I've found that this works best for me as a bottom lash mascara. But I'm still going to persevere with this as a top lash mascara in the hope I might find a good way to use it as it can be built up so it's not too natural looking. This doesn't smudge around my eyes either which is great.

Now onto Mac bits and bobs! I didn't go crazy at mac because when it came to buying things I just forgot every thing I've ever wanted and panicked, both times I was at mac haha. So I only bought two things, the first being the ever so famous Soft&Gentle mineralize skinfinish highlighter, possibly the most beautiful thing ever! And also a lipstick in cream cup, which is a lovely pale nudy pink.

Onto slightly more affordable things, I didn't go overboard on drugstore shopping but I did buy a few things to show you. Firstly I picked up this brow gel by rimmel called brow this way (dupe for benefit gimme brow), and the formulae for this is good and it really does fill in brows but I got the wrong colour for me as this was too much of a rich brown shade and I need a more ashy brown.

I also got two mascaras, the Soap&Glory thick and fast which I haven't tried yet but I have wanted this for ages. And I also got the Rimmel Scandleyes retro glam mascara which I am in love with at the moment, it doesn't smudge at all on my eyes like most mascaras do on me and it still gives me big voluminous looking lashes.

Finally my final items are the sleek blush by 3, cream blushers in the shade Californ.i.a, I haven't tried this yet but I didn't own any cream blushes and this was really cheap at like £8 for 3 so I grabbed this off the shelf. My last but not least product was this Collection work the colour lip butter, in 2 cappuccino, I swatched this colour in the shop ages ago and I needed this in my life but all the stores near me had been sold out for ages, but this is just a super nice darkish browny nude colour.

Well this is a long post isn't it! I would say that I won't be buying anything else for a long time, but I most probably will... oh dear.

Shop My Stash

If you don't know what a 'shop my stash' is then it's basically when you go through your makeup collection and pick out a few products that maybe you've forgotten about or ones you bought but never used, and try to start using them.

Stila convertible blush in Coral - I bought this blush a few months ago and I've actually never worn it, however it is a lovely colour. The only problem with this that I have is that it is just so pigmented, which I know is suppose to be a good thing although this is redicilously pigmented. So much so that one dab on a brush is too much meaning it's quite hard to work with but I'm going to give it another try.

Topshop Kohl eyeliner in Sable - I did wear this when I first got it about twice to try it but I actually forgot I had this until the other day when I was hunting through my collection. From what I remember it was a good eyeliner and it swatches nicely too.

Benefit High Beam - I forgot I had this too it was like I'd won a prize when I saw this haha. It's only a mini which I got in a set so it made it's way to the back of it's drawer but I loved this so much and I haven't used this I'm ages. This is basically just a liquid highlighter but it's more of a sheen than a glitter meaning it's reasonably natural looking.

L'oreal glam bronze bronzer - My mum actually bought this for herself  while ago but then she got a new bronzer and said I could have this which I was quite happy about haha. Again I haven't actually used this a lot at all, I'm not even sure if I actually have used it but the texture of this is very different to most powder bronzers, it almost feels creamy! But I have heard a lot of good things about this so I'm excited to use it.

Maybelline super stay 24 hour concealer - I've never used this and I always forget I have this and it think it's because I don't really like the packaging and the product inside is sort of a funny colour. However, you never know Might try it and think it's the best concealer ever haha.

Benefit bad gal lash - I used to love this sooo much and it made my eyelashes look amazing and fluttery and natural and just all I would want from mascara so I'm glad I've found this again and hopefully it will be just as amazing as I remember! This has a huge brush applicator so if you prefer that in a mascara then I would definitely recommend this to you!

Face Masks || Budget Beauty

Recently I've been getting into using clay masks as I've noticed a few pesky spots creeping in on my face. The two I use are from the drugstore and are under £5, cheap and cheerful! For both I have noticed a difference in my skin: it's been feeling a lot smoother and I've noticed fewer spots appearing and the ones I had are clearing up... good riddance!

I've always been a fan of Simple as a brand as I had owned a few of their skincare products prior buying this mask. Although the mask isn't entirely visible when on and you don't get the tightness when it dries this one is probably my preferred one of the two. I believe this one cost £3.99 from Boots. On the back it has lots of fancy stuff about the ingredients and the vitamins and what benefits they give to your skin. I enjoy using this mask because it only takes 3 minutes to do its job!

Quick Fix is a new brand to me but they're mask range seem to have every variation to suit everyone's skin type and needs. This says that you get 10 uses within the tube however I've used this around 3 or 4 times and it isn't even nearly a quarter gone! This one cost £3.33 when it was on offer but I do believe it is slightly more expensive than the simple one, however you could argue that the tube is slightly larger. With this you do get the tightness and the cracking sensation but personally that's the fun part for me! This takes 10 minutes to dry so slightly longer but still is easy to remove.

Lip Product Addict TAG

1. Favourite balm/treatment?
I adore the Nivea Lip Butter in Rasberry Rosé. It's so nourishing and has lasted me ages!

2. Best eye-catching red?
Although I don't actually own a red I have been eyeing up the Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple.

3. Best luxury & best drugstore?
The best luxury is not actually a lipstick but the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, and my favourite drugstore is the Bourjous Colour Boost in the orange colour.

4. Best MAC lipstick?
I don't a Mac lipstick yet, however I plan to buy one. However the Lipglass in Pink Lenonade is fab!

5. The most disappointing?

The most disappointing would have to be the Barry M Lipgloss in Toffee I believe. The gloss itself isn't sticky but I just cannot bare the smell and it's not very long lasting at all.

6. Liner - yes or no?
Liners seem quite useful but I don't own any and don't plan on owning any. They're just a bit of a faff and I think they look very drying.

7. Best gloss?
Benefit Sugarbomb Lipgloss is a new one to my collection but is already a new favourite. It's the perfect glossy nude that is not sticky whatsoever.

8. Something extra!

I thought I should mention my lip scrub that I made (post already on here). It really helps get rid of dry bits and preps my lips very well for lipstick. I hear the Lush ones are supposed to be great!
I tag you all,

Summer Essentials

This summer I've been meaning to write this post but other posts got in the way but I'm doing it now, so here are my summer essentials.

Since it's been getting a lot hotter I've stopped using blush and I've really started to enjoy using bronzer. Usually I prefer blush as it makes me look a lot healthier as naturally I don't go red or flush in any way. But then it dawned on me that people wear blush to kind of give the effect that they've been out in the cold and have lovely flushed cheeks afterwards, so by using blush in summer means your flushed cheeks can't be from the cold therefore it must be from heat, meaning it gives a kind of sweaty look, if you like this look then by all means go for it but I've been really loving being all bronzed up! I know a lot of people like to contour and I do do this slightly however I mainly just dust the bronzer where the contour would usually go, on my temples and my forehead using the real techniques blush brush.

Another thing I have been loving are the Victoria Secret body splashes. I always find that body splashes are a bit nicer in the Summer than other times of the year as they're a bit lighter to wear and just easier for an all round spritz of smell. I bought a set a little while ago which had five of the body splashes in mini size (I gave one of the sprays to a friend as she liked the smell a lot more than I did so it's not in the picture, but it was a coconut smelling one), which was actually a good buy as it was only £17 and it's lasting me a long time.

I have also really been liking high wasted shorts as I'd say 90% of my tops are cropped and I prefer not to have all my stomach on show so high wasted shorts are perfect. I also  find they can be really flattering if you have larger hips than you do ribcage part (I've never been great at science and body parts haha), but also with me i have quite a small ribcage part and I do have larger hips but I wouldn't say I'm blessed with a Kim Kardashian arse haha so high wasted shorts can help with enlarging too haha.

I'm going to the end this post here as it's become pretty long already and if I spoke about all my essentials it would last forever. But there's just a couple of my summer essentials.

Beauty Haul

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - This is a repurchase for me, the concealer is very light weight and not very thick. It blends very well but is still quite a high coverage - £5.99
Maybelline Express Remover - I bought this because I am incredibly lazy. This product is supposed to remove your polish instantly instead of using a remover and a cotton pad - £4.99
Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo - I already own another shade from this range and they are such long lasting eyeshadows on their own and as bases - £4.99

Benefit High Beam - The consistency is very smooth and thin and sinks in very quickly leaving a gorgeous shine not a sparkle - Set was £9.95
Benefit Bad Gal - A very lengthening mascara that adds a lot of volume and stays all day - Set was £9.95
Benefit Sugarbomb Lipgloss - This is very smooth and feels quite moisturising. The colour is nudey pink with a shimmer - Set was £9.95

Mac Studio Finish Concealer - A very high coverage light and creamy concealer. I use this under my eyes but not on spots as the shade I bought was a bit pinkey - £15.50

I was definitely feeling spendy...

Brand Focus || Rimmel

I'm just gonna put this out there that I have tried quite a lot of rimmel products so I couldn't include all my favourites otherwise this post would be very long. So I've chosen products that I haven't ever really spoken about and that I don't hear people talking about that much but are actually some of my faves.

Match Perfection Foundation - I have tried so many foundations but every time I don't think they are as good as this one. It has perfect coverage it's not too heavy but not to sheer either. It covers blemishes  but it's also allows your skin to look radiant and still like skin.

Match Perfection Silky Loose face powder- this is actually probably one of my favourite powders of all time, it's perfect for setting concealer under eyes and just for all round the face. It doesn't look powdery but it just sets makeup and stops all unflattering shines coming through.

Lasting  finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint And Balm - this is basically just a lip tint, however they last so long on the lips and I have had one of mine for almost a year and it has not yet dried out. I have mine in the shades nothing but nude (orange) and endless blossom (pink) these are honestly amazing quality and they taste nice too haha.

Lasting Finish Mono Blush in Live Pink - I often forget that I actually have this because it has really small packaging and it always makes it's way to the back of my drawers, however it is actually really nice. It isn't chalky at all and it's a beautiful pink with slight golden/silver shimmer going through and it just gives a really nice subtle, but buildable colour to the cheeks.

Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara  - I am constantly changing my mascaras, which I know is probably not the right this to do but it means I get to try out quite a few different mascaras. This is honestly a really good mascara. it doesn't clump at all and it makes eyelashes look really voluminous and fluttery and I'm a huge fan of this.

Moisture Renew Lip Liner - in all honesty I haven't tried out all that many lip liners so I'm not exactly an expert in them. However this lip liner is clear so you can use it for all your lipstick colours. And even when I just put on a nude or a lipgloss I like to just put a layer of this on my lips because 1) it's actually really moisturising and 2) it fills in the lines in my lips so when I put any colours on top it makes it look a lot nicer.

Bronzing Compact Powder in Light Matte - I'd say this is definitely my favourite bronzer or up there in my top two favourite bronzers because this is honestly just a great all round bronzer. Firstly, you can get this in the colour light matte (looks dark in picture) which is perfect if like me you are very pale and also as this is matte it's great for contouring and just simply giving your face a bit more colour.

Polish for Pale People

I am very pale. I can't tan and if I ever try to I end up looking like a lobster, not a good look! The Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Paint in Papaya is the perfect mix of peach and orange. I can't quite explain why but this polish somehow makes my hands/feet look less … white.
Firstly I would like to point out a few colours that I would suggest you miss if you're quite pale (a.k.a learning from my mistakes). Blues, I have recently discovered, are my arch nemesis, some people may suit them if they have a different undertone but blue nail polish makes me look so pale and almost blue as well. Same goes for purples. However, warmer toned nudes, brights and dark polishes somehow warm up my skin as well.
Not only is this polish's colour game strong, application wise I am yet to find a varnish that is better. An opaque quick-drying colour is there within one to two coats and a few minutes. Very handy if you are impatient like me or are on the go. Overall a very purse friendly product for paler people that is of an amazing quality. Two thumbs up from me!
Sorry that was only a quickie, but I hope this helped steer the paler-people in the right direction.

June Favourites

Since we have come to the end of June I thought I would show you some of the things I've been loving throughout the month!

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold - I never truly got into this even though I loved the colour. I think this is because I didn't like how the brush I was using applied it. However, since I changed the brush I used to a small contour brush (Mac 109 if your interested) I really love the effect this gives. I put it on the apples of my cheeks and then in between where you would put your contour and highlight. I feel like it just makes me look healthier and more awake because of the lovely gold shimmer going through it.

Benefit Erase Paste - I have actually had this product a while and I never actually liked it because I felt like it didn't do much. But the other week I tried this out again and I thought it was amazing, it literally covered up my under eye circles amazingly so I'm not to sure what I did wrong last time, but yeah I've just been loving this.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer- I bought this concealer and never actually used it, but when I was looking through my collection for a new concealer to use I saw this one and I've been loving it since.  This is great for blemishes and under eyes either on it's own or over erase paste as I've been doing.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On And On Bronze and Mac Eyeshadow in Ricepaper - I've included these two products as one because I have been loving using them together. I just put the on and on bronze on my lid and then a wash of rice paper over. I don't ever wear colour on my eyelids so this is a bit unusual for me but I love how it looks, it's not too dark, it's just really pretty and quite subtle.

Bourjois Effect 3D  Lipgloss in 51 Rose Chimeric - this is just an average lipgloss really however I really like the applicator because it's more like a lip brush applicator. It's really good to add a bit of shine over a lipstick or just on it's own as it adds a wash of pink too and I'm quite tempted to buy a few more shades.

Maybelline Color Whisper in Coral Ambition -  I'm always a bit scared to use this too much as you
can't buy it unless your in America, but since the weather has been a bit warmer, coral lips have just become a colour I've been reaching for more often. I wore this when my I was wearing quite a dark(ish) outfit and the colour wasn't too in your face but just a really nice colour to slap on.

Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer - I bought this at the same time as the lipgloss as there was a deal on in Boots. This is very different to primers such as benefit POREfessional as this one feels more like a moisturiser and in all honesty I don't notice a massive difference to how long my makeup stayed on my face for but it does make my foundation look a little bit nicer I thought.

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty TAG

I love a good tag post, and seeing as I haven't done one in a while I thought it was about time I do another one. I'm not going to tag anyone in specific but feel free to do this one anyway.

TAG QUESTIONS

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
The most inexpensive product I own believe it or not only cost me £1! You may think that eyelash curlers for this cheap would cut off your eyelashes or not curl at all (believe me I has these concerns too!). However the eyelash curlers from Primark surprised me.

My most expensive product by a mile would be my Naked 2 Palette that I treated myself to not that long ago. Although £37, I have used this a lot and I'm sure I will get my money's worth!

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
So the product I sometimes get along with is the clear Collection Colour Lash Mascara, I used love this, it kept my eyebrows in place but didn't make them look gross, it was just nice and natural. But every now and then this makes the hairs crunchy, it sounds horrible and it is, I'm not too sure how I feel about this one.

A while ago I saw someone use the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder and they said it was highly comparable to the infamous Mac Soft and Gentle MSF. I had the Mac highlighter on my wish list already and then I heard that I could get the same thing for £20 cheaper! This was sold out everywhere. Until I went into a different Superdrug and found a few on the stand.

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
I assumed this one meant which thing smells the best as I can't say I've ever eaten any of my products, however the Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rosé smells great! Besides the smell it is actually a very good lip balm.

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
Face Primers what a faff! I neglect them because yes, I am lazy, and no, I don't notice a difference. I find they're just another step into my routine and I've never really noticed a difference in how long my makeup has lasted, even when using the infamous Benefit the POREfessional! I think I'm going to continue to miss this out!

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Concealer! Without a doubt, it covers up all the things that make me feel gross when I wake up ahah. I particularly enjoy the Collection Lasting Perfection in shade 1 because I'm so pale. It is very heavy duty, and I must admit I can't leave the house without a bit on!

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
I found this question a bit odd but I like them to be taller than myself which is rare because I'm kind of a giant and, other than physical attributes, I think a good sense of humour is essential.

7. ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
If I'm honest I have already been eyeing up a few Mac eyeshadows as I would like to make my own quad. So, at the moment, I would say Mac Quarry, Patina, Shroom and Mystery. Not the cheapest of things but as it is a gift…

I tag you all!

Top 5 || Concealers

I'm going to start a series of my top five beauty products in each category e.g bronzers, blushers etc so I thought I would start with concealers, not the most exciting, but very necessary!

Benefit Erase Paste- When I first got this I I didn't think that much of it, I thought it was okay, nothing special but recently it has been working so well and I think it's amazing. I wouldn't use this on spots as it's very heavy and quite pink but under my eyes it works wonders. It covers up dark circles better than all my other concealers, however make sure you set this with a powder!

Mac Pro-Long Wear Concealer- I really like this concealer! It's become my new concealer that I fall back on when I have very problematic skin or want to brighten under my eyes, but it's also a great concealer to wear if you don't wear foundations or you don't want to go all out and actually bother with a foundation.  And as you can probably tell from the name of it, it's very long lasting.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- If you don't own this concealer or don't know about this concealer, then why not and where have you been for the past like 4 years?!!? Haha, but honestly this is an amazing concealer for every thing and I'd recommend this concealer a million times over, it's cheap and cheerful and does the job!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- This concealer is quite light coverage so perfect for summer I think. I prefer to use this under my eyes rather than on spots and things, just because I think it works best for me in that way, however it truly makes you look wide awake and it lasts reasonably well too.

Rimmel Match Perfection concealer&higlighter- This is the same kind of idea as the Ysl touché éclat pen, so it's a concealer that you wouldn't  use on spots but for brightening your complexion. I love this and I use it so much, I tend to put this under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, a tiny bit on my forehead, my chin and cubids bow, for natural looking highlighting.

DIY || Lip Scrub

So a slightly different post today. This is a do-it-yourself Lush-Style lip scrub!

Ingredients -
Olive oil
Honey
Sugar
Flavouring (optional)
Food colouring (optional)

Method -
1. Put a tablespoon of caster/granulated sugar into your mixing bowl. This is what will actually scrub the lips and make them smooth. You can add more than that, but this makes a good amount.

2. Add the Olive Oil. About half a teaspoon should be enough, but there is not really any fixed amount. The olive oil is the moisturising part so your lips don't dry out. Mix the olive oil into the sugar. You know you have the right amount when the sugar is slightly yellow in colour. The mixture should not be liquidy, but should be more of the texture of the sugar.

3. Add the honey. Literally, you only want a dribble of honey, just to stick the mixture together. You don't want it to be too sticky, but you want the mixture to be stuck together.

4. Add the Flavouring (optional). If you want to add flavouring, now is the time. You could add a drop or two of Peppermint Extract, Vanilla Essence, Lemon juice, anything goes. Don't add too much, you want the flavour to be subtle.

5. Add the Colouring (optional). A little bit of food colouring can make your lip scrub look pretty. Try adding a tiny bit of pink or red coloured food colouring, as it can stain your lips a little bit and give them a pink glow. Therefore, do not use blue/green/black food colouring!

6. Store your scrub in a small container and add to the lips whenever you want to make them smooth. Enjoy!

Honestly this lip scrub makes my lips feel so smooth and nourished, and with the pink food colouring it adds a slight stain. Just add a layer of balm and you're good to go!

May Favourites

Firstly, we would like to apologise for our absence as we have been slacking with posting and everything. We have decided to only post once a week instead of three or four posts a week. So hello again! Here are my monthly favourites.

Mac 217 Brush - When I use this brush to apply shadow it gives a really nice subtle wash of colour which can be built up. When I use this to blend shadows it softens the line and can really smoke out an intense eye look. The bristles are so soft and aren't harsh on my eyelids. I think this was worth the quite expensive price tag.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Keeping with eyes and eye balls and things I've been particularly enjoying the shade tease, it's a beautiful soft muted plum-brown that is really buttery in texture and super easy to blend. This colour is almost identical to Mac Quarry and it is just great.

Elizabeth Arden Serum - This serum is not greasy and just sinks into the skin quickly. It is specifically for dry skin but I think it would work nicely on most skin types (maybe not if you have oily skin). I put this all over my face before my moisturiser and it just helps the moisturiser to do its job for so much longer.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - Any product with the word 'miracle' in the name immediately makes me have high hopes for the product, and this did not disappoint. It easily blends in concealer around my  nose and eyes, and although I haven't tried it with foundation I'm sure it's just as good. It can be used after you've blended your concealer and foundation just to dab in the excess and make it look more like skin.

Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon - My favourite shade of these is 'Orange Punch' and it's just a gorgeous orangey-pink colour that is perfect for Summer. It is sheer yet bright, it is moisturising, has SPF 15 and is waterproof so if you're going on holiday or to the beach this would be great to wear.

Pamper Evening Skincare

Generally I'll treat myself to one pamper evening a week, usually on a Sunday so I'm all ready and refreshed for the week ahead. My 'pamper evening' regime consists of a bath and a face detox, this basically means I'll scrub, tone and moisturise it. In this post I won't show the products I use in the bath, just my current skincare staples.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream - Firstly I'll generously put this all over my face. Just to quickly add this is quite a harsh beaded scrub so if you have sensitive skin then I would maybe avoid this, but I only use this once a week so it doesn't abuse my skin it just removes any dry dead skin. I'll then put some water on my hands and rub this all over my face and then I'll go on to rinse the whole thing off.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cleanser - I like to apple a dollop of this to my damp face, this doesn't lather or sting, it's quite odd. This helps keep my skin clean by removing dirt, sweat, excess oil and bacteria. If your skin tends towards dryness, you know how hard it can be to cleanse without stripping away moisture, but this is fab!

Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner / Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Toner - I apply a bit of either of these to a cotton wool pad and sweep this all over my face. Then to another pad I'll do the same thing but focus on my T-zone because I'm a bit more oily here so there's probably a bit more dirt and oil and stuff here.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Optimizing Skin Serum - I apply this all over my face, it preps my skin for my moisturiser and helps maintain the moisture I'm going to be adding on. This is really nice as it's not greasy but it's also not drying or anything like that.

Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On - I 'roll' this on the contours of my eyes focusing on the outer parts, then using my ring finger I'll gently either use a dabbing motion or I'll rub it in circular motions.

Garnier Skin Naturals Soft Essentials 24hr Nourishing Day Cream - Last but by no means least, I'll smother this great moisturiser all over my face and neck with an upward motion. This feels very light but very moisturising at the same time, I prefer to use this as a night cream rather than a day cream because of this.

Voila!

Urban Decay Naked 2

The other day I had a splurge and bought a palette I had been eyeing up for months. Now, I know I am very late on the bandwagon with this one but I am glad that I finally decided to buy it.
This palette contains 12 taupe-based eye shadows that are a mixture of shimmer and matte, light and dark, the palette comes with a double-sided brush, which, I personally hate. I mean, it is a really dense brush that picks up a lot of product and leaves a lot of excess powder on the eye shadow. I also thought that one end would pack on the colour and one would blend but this brush did not do either.

The palette came with 4 samples of their eye shadow primers that promise to each have one weeks worth of product inside. I have not yet tried them but when I have I will give you an update and comparisons.

The eye shadows are a creamy or buttery consistency that are rather easy to blend and build up the intensity. As they are all taupe-based they really suit my blue/green eyes as the two colours clash, although I'm sure they would look nice on all coloured eyes.
The shimmery ones aren't glittery, which I love, and the matte ones aren't chalky, which I also love. They are just all such great colours for casual days or to dress up with.

Do I think it's worth £37? In all honesty I would prefer it to be cheaper because you know it's £37. At first I was debating whether to get this or the Stila In The Light Palette but thinking about the quality I am glad I bought this one.

Brand Focus || Maybelline

Maybelline is one of my favourite brands, it is of a high quality but is cheap and cheerful. To me Maybelline is as good as high-end brands such as Benefit or Mac, but is half the price! In the UK Maybelline can be found in Boots, Superdrug or in selected pharmacies, they also stock globally I believe. I have selected my favourites from the brand to show you.

The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara - This mascara is only £7.99 and is great on natural days or to layer up for a night out, very versatile! It really grips my lashes, lengthens them and adds some volume at the roots. Also, when it says waterproof it means it, this will not come off for anything! I admit a little annoying but it is great for sweatproof and waterproof makeup for the summer.

Baby Lips in Pink Punch, Cherry Me and Intense Care - These are my favourite lip balms, I personally think they're better than Nivea, Burt's Bees and even the infamous Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. They nourish my lips and the tinted ones leave a glossy colour that stays on for hours. My favourite is the Intense Care (mentioned here) but I do, obviously, love the others. For only £2.99 they are great products.

24hr Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe - As an eye shadow base this product keeps they eye shadow on for hours, doesn't crease and doesn't fade; as an eye shadow on its own it is very pigmented and still stays on all day, doesn't fade or crease. I have it in a beautiful matte taupe (greyish-brown) colour but am considering buying a few more shades. This product is £4.99 and is highly comparable to the Mac Paint Pots. Great!

Color Whisper in Coral Ambition - I was kindly gifted this product from Kelly as it is currently only available in America, how annoying! But I do adore it, it is a beautiful sheer and creamy texture like the Revlon Lip Butters but is a lot more pigmented. It stays on for quite a long time, it feels very nourishing and has a beautiful glossy finish.
