7 Deadly Sins of Beauty TAG

I love a good tag post, and seeing as I haven't done one in a while I thought it was about time I do another one. I'm not going to tag anyone in specific but feel free to do this one anyway.

TAG QUESTIONS

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is your most expensive?
The most inexpensive product I own believe it or not only cost me £1! You may think that eyelash curlers for this cheap would cut off your eyelashes or not curl at all (believe me I has these concerns too!). However the eyelash curlers from Primark surprised me.

My most expensive product by a mile would be my Naked 2 Palette that I treated myself to not that long ago. Although £37, I have used this a lot and I'm sure I will get my money's worth!

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What product has been the hardest to get?
So the product I sometimes get along with is the clear Collection Colour Lash Mascara, I used love this, it kept my eyebrows in place but didn't make them look gross, it was just nice and natural. But every now and then this makes the hairs crunchy, it sounds horrible and it is, I'm not too sure how I feel about this one.

A while ago I saw someone use the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder and they said it was highly comparable to the infamous Mac Soft and Gentle MSF. I had the Mac highlighter on my wish list already and then I heard that I could get the same thing for £20 cheaper! This was sold out everywhere. Until I went into a different Superdrug and found a few on the stand.

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
I assumed this one meant which thing smells the best as I can't say I've ever eaten any of my products, however the Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rosé smells great! Besides the smell it is actually a very good lip balm.

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect, due to laziness?
Face Primers what a faff! I neglect them because yes, I am lazy, and no, I don't notice a difference. I find they're just another step into my routine and I've never really noticed a difference in how long my makeup has lasted, even when using the infamous Benefit the POREfessional! I think I'm going to continue to miss this out!

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self confidence?
Concealer! Without a doubt, it covers up all the things that make me feel gross when I wake up ahah. I particularly enjoy the Collection Lasting Perfection in shade 1 because I'm so pale. It is very heavy duty, and I must admit I can't leave the house without a bit on!

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
I found this question a bit odd but I like them to be taller than myself which is rare because I'm kind of a giant and, other than physical attributes, I think a good sense of humour is essential.

7. ENVY: What items would you most like to receive as a gift?
If I'm honest I have already been eyeing up a few Mac eyeshadows as I would like to make my own quad. So, at the moment, I would say Mac Quarry, Patina, Shroom and Mystery. Not the cheapest of things but as it is a gift…

I tag you all!

Top 5 || Concealers

I'm going to start a series of my top five beauty products in each category e.g bronzers, blushers etc so I thought I would start with concealers, not the most exciting, but very necessary!

Benefit Erase Paste- When I first got this I I didn't think that much of it, I thought it was okay, nothing special but recently it has been working so well and I think it's amazing. I wouldn't use this on spots as it's very heavy and quite pink but under my eyes it works wonders. It covers up dark circles better than all my other concealers, however make sure you set this with a powder!

Mac Pro-Long Wear Concealer- I really like this concealer! It's become my new concealer that I fall back on when I have very problematic skin or want to brighten under my eyes, but it's also a great concealer to wear if you don't wear foundations or you don't want to go all out and actually bother with a foundation.  And as you can probably tell from the name of it, it's very long lasting.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer- If you don't own this concealer or don't know about this concealer, then why not and where have you been for the past like 4 years?!!? Haha, but honestly this is an amazing concealer for every thing and I'd recommend this concealer a million times over, it's cheap and cheerful and does the job!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer- This concealer is quite light coverage so perfect for summer I think. I prefer to use this under my eyes rather than on spots and things, just because I think it works best for me in that way, however it truly makes you look wide awake and it lasts reasonably well too.

Rimmel Match Perfection concealer&higlighter- This is the same kind of idea as the Ysl touché éclat pen, so it's a concealer that you wouldn't  use on spots but for brightening your complexion. I love this and I use it so much, I tend to put this under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, a tiny bit on my forehead, my chin and cubids bow, for natural looking highlighting.

DIY || Lip Scrub

So a slightly different post today. This is a do-it-yourself Lush-Style lip scrub!

Ingredients -
Olive oil
Honey
Sugar
Flavouring (optional)
Food colouring (optional)

Method -
1. Put a tablespoon of caster/granulated sugar into your mixing bowl. This is what will actually scrub the lips and make them smooth. You can add more than that, but this makes a good amount.

2. Add the Olive Oil. About half a teaspoon should be enough, but there is not really any fixed amount. The olive oil is the moisturising part so your lips don't dry out. Mix the olive oil into the sugar. You know you have the right amount when the sugar is slightly yellow in colour. The mixture should not be liquidy, but should be more of the texture of the sugar.

3. Add the honey. Literally, you only want a dribble of honey, just to stick the mixture together. You don't want it to be too sticky, but you want the mixture to be stuck together.

4. Add the Flavouring (optional). If you want to add flavouring, now is the time. You could add a drop or two of Peppermint Extract, Vanilla Essence, Lemon juice, anything goes. Don't add too much, you want the flavour to be subtle.

5. Add the Colouring (optional). A little bit of food colouring can make your lip scrub look pretty. Try adding a tiny bit of pink or red coloured food colouring, as it can stain your lips a little bit and give them a pink glow. Therefore, do not use blue/green/black food colouring!

6. Store your scrub in a small container and add to the lips whenever you want to make them smooth. Enjoy!

Honestly this lip scrub makes my lips feel so smooth and nourished, and with the pink food colouring it adds a slight stain. Just add a layer of balm and you're good to go!

May Favourites

Firstly, we would like to apologise for our absence as we have been slacking with posting and everything. We have decided to only post once a week instead of three or four posts a week. So hello again! Here are my monthly favourites.

Mac 217 Brush - When I use this brush to apply shadow it gives a really nice subtle wash of colour which can be built up. When I use this to blend shadows it softens the line and can really smoke out an intense eye look. The bristles are so soft and aren't harsh on my eyelids. I think this was worth the quite expensive price tag.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Keeping with eyes and eye balls and things I've been particularly enjoying the shade tease, it's a beautiful soft muted plum-brown that is really buttery in texture and super easy to blend. This colour is almost identical to Mac Quarry and it is just great.

Elizabeth Arden Serum - This serum is not greasy and just sinks into the skin quickly. It is specifically for dry skin but I think it would work nicely on most skin types (maybe not if you have oily skin). I put this all over my face before my moisturiser and it just helps the moisturiser to do its job for so much longer.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - Any product with the word 'miracle' in the name immediately makes me have high hopes for the product, and this did not disappoint. It easily blends in concealer around my  nose and eyes, and although I haven't tried it with foundation I'm sure it's just as good. It can be used after you've blended your concealer and foundation just to dab in the excess and make it look more like skin.

Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lip Crayon - My favourite shade of these is 'Orange Punch' and it's just a gorgeous orangey-pink colour that is perfect for Summer. It is sheer yet bright, it is moisturising, has SPF 15 and is waterproof so if you're going on holiday or to the beach this would be great to wear.

Pamper Evening Skincare

Generally I'll treat myself to one pamper evening a week, usually on a Sunday so I'm all ready and refreshed for the week ahead. My 'pamper evening' regime consists of a bath and a face detox, this basically means I'll scrub, tone and moisturise it. In this post I won't show the products I use in the bath, just my current skincare staples.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream - Firstly I'll generously put this all over my face. Just to quickly add this is quite a harsh beaded scrub so if you have sensitive skin then I would maybe avoid this, but I only use this once a week so it doesn't abuse my skin it just removes any dry dead skin. I'll then put some water on my hands and rub this all over my face and then I'll go on to rinse the whole thing off.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cleanser - I like to apple a dollop of this to my damp face, this doesn't lather or sting, it's quite odd. This helps keep my skin clean by removing dirt, sweat, excess oil and bacteria. If your skin tends towards dryness, you know how hard it can be to cleanse without stripping away moisture, but this is fab!

Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner / Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Toner - I apply a bit of either of these to a cotton wool pad and sweep this all over my face. Then to another pad I'll do the same thing but focus on my T-zone because I'm a bit more oily here so there's probably a bit more dirt and oil and stuff here.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Optimizing Skin Serum - I apply this all over my face, it preps my skin for my moisturiser and helps maintain the moisture I'm going to be adding on. This is really nice as it's not greasy but it's also not drying or anything like that.

Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On - I 'roll' this on the contours of my eyes focusing on the outer parts, then using my ring finger I'll gently either use a dabbing motion or I'll rub it in circular motions.

Garnier Skin Naturals Soft Essentials 24hr Nourishing Day Cream - Last but by no means least, I'll smother this great moisturiser all over my face and neck with an upward motion. This feels very light but very moisturising at the same time, I prefer to use this as a night cream rather than a day cream because of this.

Voila!

Urban Decay Naked 2

The other day I had a splurge and bought a palette I had been eyeing up for months. Now, I know I am very late on the bandwagon with this one but I am glad that I finally decided to buy it.
This palette contains 12 taupe-based eye shadows that are a mixture of shimmer and matte, light and dark, the palette comes with a double-sided brush, which, I personally hate. I mean, it is a really dense brush that picks up a lot of product and leaves a lot of excess powder on the eye shadow. I also thought that one end would pack on the colour and one would blend but this brush did not do either.

The palette came with 4 samples of their eye shadow primers that promise to each have one weeks worth of product inside. I have not yet tried them but when I have I will give you an update and comparisons.

The eye shadows are a creamy or buttery consistency that are rather easy to blend and build up the intensity. As they are all taupe-based they really suit my blue/green eyes as the two colours clash, although I'm sure they would look nice on all coloured eyes.
The shimmery ones aren't glittery, which I love, and the matte ones aren't chalky, which I also love. They are just all such great colours for casual days or to dress up with.

Do I think it's worth £37? In all honesty I would prefer it to be cheaper because you know it's £37. At first I was debating whether to get this or the Stila In The Light Palette but thinking about the quality I am glad I bought this one.

Brand Focus || Maybelline

Maybelline is one of my favourite brands, it is of a high quality but is cheap and cheerful. To me Maybelline is as good as high-end brands such as Benefit or Mac, but is half the price! In the UK Maybelline can be found in Boots, Superdrug or in selected pharmacies, they also stock globally I believe. I have selected my favourites from the brand to show you.

The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara - This mascara is only £7.99 and is great on natural days or to layer up for a night out, very versatile! It really grips my lashes, lengthens them and adds some volume at the roots. Also, when it says waterproof it means it, this will not come off for anything! I admit a little annoying but it is great for sweatproof and waterproof makeup for the summer.

Baby Lips in Pink Punch, Cherry Me and Intense Care - These are my favourite lip balms, I personally think they're better than Nivea, Burt's Bees and even the infamous Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. They nourish my lips and the tinted ones leave a glossy colour that stays on for hours. My favourite is the Intense Care (mentioned here) but I do, obviously, love the others. For only £2.99 they are great products.

24hr Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe - As an eye shadow base this product keeps they eye shadow on for hours, doesn't crease and doesn't fade; as an eye shadow on its own it is very pigmented and still stays on all day, doesn't fade or crease. I have it in a beautiful matte taupe (greyish-brown) colour but am considering buying a few more shades. This product is £4.99 and is highly comparable to the Mac Paint Pots. Great!

Color Whisper in Coral Ambition - I was kindly gifted this product from Kelly as it is currently only available in America, how annoying! But I do adore it, it is a beautiful sheer and creamy texture like the Revlon Lip Butters but is a lot more pigmented. It stays on for quite a long time, it feels very nourishing and has a beautiful glossy finish.

Empty Products #1

I've been collecting a little stash of products that I have completely used up. Sounds bizarre, I know, but it would be helpful to you because you would know my honest opinion as I have had to use the whole thing up!

Batiste Dry Shampoo - This is just your bog-standard dry shampoo, I always prefer the tinted ones as these tend to not leave a whiteness in the roots. It was cheap and cheerful, but did not last as long as I thought considering it is a big can.

Simple Clear Skin Cleansing Wipes - These are my favourite makeup wipes; they remove any makeup or dirt that's on your skin. They helped to prevent spots and did not sting when I used them. Again a nice purse-friendly purchase, will definitely buy another pack!

Dior Capture Totale Eyes Essential - This was a very moisturising eye cream that got rid of my dryness. This was only a tester tube but I would not fork out the money to buy a full size as there are cheaper ones that are highly comparable. Still a very nice and luxurious product.

Clinique All About Eyes - Another eye cream, but this one is less watery and a bit more creamy. This comes in a pot, which I prefer as you can clearly see if there is any product left. I'm not sure if this is full sized or not however it did last ages! This one reduced my dark circles and again was another luxury product.

Maybelline Baby Lips Intense Care - Back to the less expensive products now, this lip balm is incredible and I have already repurchased it, it is so nourishing and repairs cracked or damaged lips. It lasted a very long time and I used this religiously!

Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer - I have mentioned this before but I was surprised when this ran out as I had not had it a long time. Personally I prefer the other concealer by Collection (Lasting Perfection), but it did do a good job for the price. It was more of a illuminating concealer (as said in the name) and wasn't high coverage, which I quite like for under my eyes.

Maybelline Mascaras || Review

I am a huge fan of the Maybelline mascaras and in my opinion I think they are the best in the drugstore, that I know of.  They are definitely of a very high quality and I actually do prefer a few of them to some of my high end mascaras. They retail at around £7-£8, which is an absolute bargain for the quality. They also have different wands or applicators or whatever you want to call them haha, which means there's something in the collection for everyone.

Sorry that this picture is kind of bad it's just you have no idea how hard it was to try and make these mascaras stay still especially without getting black mascara everywhere...and I mean everywhere haha.

The Falsies- This is a really good mascara and at first I didn't really like it too much but a few weeks ago it started to make it's way back into my everyday makeup routine and I love it so much. It has a brush applicator so if you don't like this type of wand this probably isn't the right one for you. It definitely isn't a natural subtle finish which you could probably tell from the name of it, but it doesn't clump, doesn't fall down your face and it's just a very good mascara.

The Mega Plush- This is also a good mascara, it doesn't give much volume but it definitely does lengthen, so this is great mascara to double up with other mascaras. I personally like to use this mascara with the Nars Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara. This mascara gives a natural finish but not too natural if that makes sense and it also really opens up your eyes a lot, so I'd definitely give this a try.

The Colossal (waterproof version)-  I've had this mascara for a while and it's my only waterproof
mascara that I actually like. It stays put all day and isn't too difficult to get off which is the reason
why I don't like most waterproof mascaras. I wouldn't actually say this is a good waterproof mascara if that's what you want it for because it does run down my face a bit when it's gets wet, but I didn't by it for it's waterproofness so it's good for me haha. Anyway it doesn't clump it looks nice and doesn't dry out too quickly and is just an all round good mascara.

The  Rocket-  I do really love this mascara, it stays put, doesn't clump, and it just looks nice haha.  This has a plastic applicator but I'm not too fussed and it still works good so don't be put of by the wand on it. It's very comparable to the Benefit 'They're Real' mascara, except this one is a lot easier to apply than the Benefit one which is a big plus for me. I will definitely repurchase a new one of these if mine ever runs out haha.

So basically I recommend all these mascaras and I will be sure to buy anymore of the Maybelline mascaras if they bring out anymore because they are just so good!!

Boi-ing by Benefit Review

I've been eyeing up this concealer for months but I've been a bit worried to by it incase I didn't like it, especially since it's quite expensive (around the £17 mark) and you only get 3g of product. But I hadn't bought a highend product in a while so I just thought I might as well because if I hadn't have bought it then I would have ended up buying it another time anyway haha.

I admit I did have extremely high hopes for this concealer and it hasn't let me down at all. It is basically a great all round concealer, it covers redness, brightens, conceals any spots you may have, is long lasting and is really good under the eyes.

I've been reaching for this concealer a lot since I've got it and I have a feeling it will last me a long time so hopefully I'll feel like I got my money's worth once I've used it all up. I really would recommend this but if you don't want to pay £17 for a small pot of concealer (which is understandable) then getting the 'how to look the best at everything' makeup set, which includes two 1.5g of boi-ing along with three other products and a brush, for £25.50 is a good idea so you can try a bit of everything.

Just to let you know I'm not being sponserd by benefit by the way I honestly am just a really big fan of their makeup haha.

March Favourites

During this month I was kindly gifted a lot of beauty products as it was my birthday, this meant a lot of products to try out. These are a couple of reviews and recommendations (my favourites!)

Simple Kind To Skin Revitalising Eye Roll-On: My first impressions of this product was that 'wow this looks like a roll-on deodorant' but when you 'roll' this on your eyes it is very cool because of the metal ball. Sometimes in the morning I wake up with black puffy under-eyes, but, when I put this on, it cools them down, reduces the puffiness and brightens.

M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer NC15: This concealer is amazing, it covers those bags and blemishes well and feels very light and moisturising. 'What, a heavy coverage concealer that feels like an eye cream?' You heard me!

Barry M Nail Gelly in Blueberry: This is one of my favourite Spring/Summer colours, usually I am a bit afraid of colour on my hands and usually stick to black, but black isn't a very bright colour. I have actually owned this for ages but was a bit of an odd colour for Winter. The formulation is opaque with one coat and has an incredible lasting power.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: I know berry colours aren't really 'allowed' in the warmer months, but, this sheer vampy red-berry colour is very versatile. It's very creamy and would suit all skin tones. I may have to buy a few more shades!

Real Techniques Accent Brush: Recently I bought the 'Starter Kit' from Real Techniques and immediately became very fond of the Accent Brush. You can use it for contouring in the socket, inner corner highlight, smoky liner or even for eyebrows. It's very soft and picks up just the right amount of product. Unfortunately, you can only buy this brush in the set or online.

Bellápierre || First Impresions

I was recently gifted a beautiful set by Bellápierre, which includes a mineral eye shadow and brush, a mascara, liquid eyeliner and a lipstick. As these products only very recently came into my collection and because I had not heard of this brand I thought I should do a "first impressions".

Mineral Eye shadow in SP005 Earth:  This eye shadow is a gorgeous iridescent golden peachy colour, a comparable shade to MAC All That Glitters. It is a very buttery product and very pigmented, it is also very easy to blend and is perfect for those 'no makeup' makeup looks.

Mineral Lipstick in Mandarina:  This is a loud orange/red colour that is very long lasting and once it loses it's shine, it will leave you with a gorgeous stain. The creamy formula is enriched in Vitamins C and E. The packaging is to die for and the colour is great for making a statement!

Volumizing Mascara in Black:  Although it has a bristle applicator, this does not grip my lashes. I would not name this as a volumizing product as all it does is lengthen and change the colour of my lashes. Don't get me wrong I do like mascaras that do this but I was hoping for something that would give me volume, this did not... haha. I know this may sound gross but it's a really wet formula that takes ages to dry, maybe give this one a miss.

Noir Eye Liner:  The long handle on the applicator makes liquid liner fool-proof, the nib on the end seems to be silicone (don't quote me on that!) which means that when you're trying to get some precision in their, it doesn't randomly move. Great! It is a very black eyeliner and dries rather quickly, bit patchy and flaky once dried but a couple of coats and you're good to go!

Eye Shadow Brush:  As the bristles on the end are put in a spade-like shape, makes it amazing for packing on colour and precision. I think it is similar to the MAC 239 Brush, or that sort of brush anyhow. Paired with the Mineral Eye Shadow it makes the perfect duo! The bristles aren't black, which I prefer, so you can see when they need a little clean.

On the whole I am impressed with this range and I think I would buy some more products.

Tag: How Much is My Face Worth || Mallory

This is quite an old tag that began a couple of years ago, but seeing as I have never done it, and because I was tagged by Kelly, I thought it would be rather interesting. The tag is called "How Much is My Face Worth?", so what you have to do is smear on a 'normal' face of makeup and add up how much it all costs.

So these are the products I tend to wear daily when I can be bothered to make an effort.

Face -
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer - £4.19
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - £3.99
Sleek Face Form Kit (not using the blusher) - £9.99
Benefit Rockateur Blush - £23.50

Eyes -
No7 Beautiful Brows Pencil - £6.50
Maybelline 24 HR Colour Tattoo - £4.99
Soap and Glory Lid Stuff - £10
Topshop Kohl - £4
No7 Extreme Length Extend - £12.50

Lips -
Maybelline Baby Lips - £2.99
Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon - £7.99

Total - £90.64

Jheez. It's really weird considering how much money I spend on makeup and how much my face is 'worth' everyday, and this doesn't even include brushes! I tag you to try this at home because I sure you will find this slightly odd...

In-Out Shower Luxury

Who in Summer wants to be spending ages in the shower or bath when they could be outside having fun in the sun? That's why in-out showers are my preference, but why should this mean we can't still pamper ourselves a bit? A bit of TLC never hurt anyone!

Shower gel is essential, I adore sweet and refreshing scents, they really help revitalise and make you feel fresh when you're getting a bit hot and bothered in Summer. The "Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel" is a newish favourite. It is very sweet smelling, but this is just my preference as it always wakes me up. Unfortunately this is a limited edition product and is only available at Christmas, sorry, but if you were lucky enough to get your hands on this then this is the time to use it!

Another sweet smelling, refreshing-type product is the "Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream", this is by far my favourite scent that Soap and Glory do, it is again really quite sweet and zingy. This smells of limes and brown sugar, a citrus-scented body product is always a must have, but this smells incredible; probably my most favourite scent ever! Not even exaggerating... haha.
It feels so nourishing on the skin and is good for the hotter months as your skin can get a bit dryer.

A Tousled Touch

To me warmer weather means messy hair. Especially in Spring/Summer I like to stay clear of curling irons, straighteners etc. as heat from styling products and the sun will mean seriously damaged hair. Trust me, this year avoid styling tools and your hair will thank you in the colder months!
A product I love is salt sprays. Salt sprays give you the effect of beachy waves in seconds, perfect for when you just want to get ready quickly and get out the house. Let's keep this a secret, leave 'em thinking we spend time on our hair! Haha.

The "Schwarzkopf got2be Beach Matte Salt Spray", my secret weapon. With little or a lot you can achieve messy tousled hair. I like to then tie it in a messy pony - optional - and voila! You're good to go.
So just wack on your sunnies, no makeup and a sun hat, job done. You can smarten this look up by perhaps plating the front or just adding pretty headbands.
